Team Georgia falls to Texas

If Team Georgia fails to take home any hardware from the 2019 Junior Sunbelt Classic, they might need to look back at Monday afternoon's contest with Team Texas and point the blame.

Team Georgia wasted a strong pitching performance from Patrick Holloman (Ola) and fell on the short end of a 1-0 loss to Team Texas to fall to 3-3 in the standings. It was the second time in the 2019 tournament that Team Georgia lost a game by a 1-0 score. They lost Friday night by the same margin to Team Tennessee.

And to make matters worse, both runs were unearned against Tennessee and Texas.

In fact, Team Georgia's three losses have come by a combined four runs.

Holloman allowed one unearned run on three hits, struck out six and walked two. One of his two walks, followed by two errors, helped Texas score its only run in the third inning.

Team Georgia had its chances against Team Texas starter Kristian Curtis, who allowed just four hits in six innings of work. They loaded the bases in the fourth but failed to score.

Then in the sixth, singles from Tyler Andrews (Lowndes) and Kyle Hilton (Savannah Christian) put runners at first and second base, but Curtis again escaped trouble.

Ty Floyd (Rockmart) and William Lybrook (Westminster) had Team Georgia's other two hits. Team Georgia committed three errors in the game.
