Team Georgia shuts out Arizona

Reid Robertson (Pope) and Dylan Garner (Pike County) combined on a three-hit shutout as Team Georgia topped Team Arizona 5-0 Tuesday afternoon at McAlester High School's Mike Deak Field.

The victory was Team Georgia's second straight as they improved to 5-3 in the Junior Sunbelt Classic standings.

Robertson got all the run support he needed as Team Georgia scored five runs in the second inning.

Benedictine's Carter Holton had an RBI double to score the game's first run. Will Pearson (North Oconee) then followed with a two-run double to make it 3-0. Pearson scored when William Lybrook (Westminster) reached on an error, then Patrick Holloman (Ola) scored on a wild pitch as Team Georgia took a 5-0 advantage.

Pearson led the offense by going 2-for-3 with two doubles. Meanwhile, Holloman, Lybrook, Paul Hegeman (Glynn Academy), Britt Metts (Jeff Davis), Tyler Andrews (Lowndes) and Holton all had a hit in the game.

Robertson struck out three and allowed two hits in five innings, while Garner allowed one hit and struck out four in two innings of relief.
