Team Georgia wins third straight, tops Oklahoma Blue

Team Georgia is playing its best baseball at the close of the Junior Sunbelt Classic after winning its third straight game Tuesday afternoon, a 3-2 victory over Oklahoma Blue at McAlester High School's Mike Deak Field.

They finished 6-3 in the standings and will await their final opponent on Wednesday. The opponent will be decided after the conclusion of Tuesday night's games.

Pitcher Pierce Williams (Alexander) and Wheeler High's Leo Giannoni combined to allow two runs (one earned) on four hits. Williams struck out 11 in five innings in his first start on the mound. Giannoni, the side-armer, has established himself as the team's closer, working two scoreless innings and striking out four.

After Garrett Gainous (Cairo) doubled to lead off the second inning, Jimbo Brown (Bremen) homered to give Team Georgia a 2-0 lead.

Then after Oklahoma Blue cut the deficit in half in the top of the fourth, Gainous and Liam Sullivan (Marist) led off the fourth with back-to-back doubles to put runners on second and third base. Brown then singled home a run to make it 3-1.

Brown and Gainous each went 2-for-3 to lead the offense. Sullivan, Britt Metts (Jeff Davis) and Kyle Hilton (Savannah Christian) all had a hit in the game.
